How do I turn off the bell/beep

e_ezylinux·15 Dec 2007·1 min read

In Linux, you can disable the beep when it is unwanted. The sound comes from the pcspkr module. Use this command:

rmmod pcspkr

To disable the sound every time the machine starts, use:

echo “rmmod pcspkr” >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local

#turn off bell#turn off beep
